4strings88keys Annual General Meeting October 2011. Charity no 1121412
Agenda
Present Committee;
Jenny Ball chair, Bridget Jackson/Dixon treasurer, Elspeth Wing temp secretary, David Brown and Bernard Gregor-Smith musical director.
Apologies
Present position. We have had difficulties in recruiting a chair person, as required by our constitution, and have been most grateful to Jennie Ball for stepping in.
We have already held a Cello day in the spring this year which has proved increasingly popular.
The Sheffield Music Academy unfortunately has left its previous accommodation in the Law School, for financial reasons, and is now based in Birkdale School. We are delighted that High Storrs was able to accommodate us for today’s chamber music day, though we are sorry to have lost our link to the Music Academy.

Secretaries’ Reports
reference was made to the summary filed on the web site.
The change of venue from Sheffield was explained relating to the possible charges to be made by the University via the Sheffield Music Academy.
Appreciation was expressed over the willingness of members to complete payments for the day prior to the weekend.
Concern was raised as to the need to appoint a chair- person, as dictated by our constitution, and it was agreed that the committee should proceed with this and that various persons should be approached.
Treasurer’s Report
Reference was made to previous over spending on similar weekends but this was felt as acceptable in light of the present financial position. A summary of the finances is available and this is in the process of being reviewed by an outside person at the moment.
Artistic Advisors report
Cello Day 2011; David Brown, Bernard and Ben are looking for agreement with the Academy on a suitable date in the spring and members will be kept informed. It is likely that Yolande will also be involved as pianist.
Thanks were expressed to the secretary and treasurer for their hard work in organising this weekend.
Date of next event
This was suggested for the autumn of 2011. It is not certain that grants will be available to support this if it is not held more centrally in Sheffield
AOB
It was suggested that sessions at the weekend need to be more than 45 minutes.
Thanks were expressed, from the floor, to the tutors for their skilled tutoring and for the superb concert.
